Landon Cox Doubles Up at Huntsville, Captures Coveted Guitar Trophy at Dixie Shootout

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (April 19, 2026) — Landon Cox delivered an impressive all-around performance this weekend at the Dixie Shootout Series event hosted by the Music City Quarter Midget Association, earning multiple wins and capturing a couple of the highly sought-after Guitar Trophies.

The 12-year-old from Monroe, Georgia, showed speed from the start of the weekend, winning multiple heat races and setting the tone for the upcoming feature events.

Cox went on to secure feature victories in both the Sr. Honda and Sr. Animal classes, against a competitive field of young drivers.

In addition to his wins, Cox added a seventh-place finish in Light 160, further highlighting his ability to compete across multiple classes throughout the weekend.

Preparation played a key role in the team’s success. The foundation was built the weekend prior, when Nick and Andy Loden helped dial in the cars with winning setups across four classes. Those setups carried over into the Dixie Shootout Series weekend, where the team continued to fine-tune performance with the help of Jordan, Jamie, David, and Dale, who kept the cars race-ready.

"The result was a complete team effort — a reminder that quarter midget racing is truly a team sport," said Danny Cox, Landon's father.

Cox also faced adversity during the weekend in the World Formula division. After an on-track incident, the young driver flipped and made contact with the wall, ending his run in that class. Following the incident and resulting damage, the team decided to withdraw from the remainder of the World Formula competition.

Despite the setback, Cox and his team remained focused, rebounding with strong performances in other divisions to cap off a highly successful weekend.

The highlight came with the Guitar Trophy presentations in both Sr Honda and Sr Animal — one of the most recognized and sought-after awards in the Dixie Shootout Series — putting an exclamation point on a weekend filled with speed, resilience, and teamwork.
