First Bandolero Win For Landon Cox Comes At Cordele
CORDELE, Ga. – Landon Cox drove to his first career Bandolero victory Saturday as part of the Legends All-Star Showdown program at Cordele Motor Speedway.
After qualifying fastest in the Rookie Bandolero division at the three-eighths-mile oval, Cox participated in a twin 10-lap feature format, grabbing the checkered flag in the first main event and finishing second in the back half of the doubleheader.
Cox beat Reese Shirley, Daylan Pennington, and Camden Glass to the finish line in the feature he won, while Pennington edged out Cox in the second main, with Glass and Shirley following in third and fourth.
It was a banner night for the 10-year-old Georgian’s first time ever racing at Cordele.
“He’s still got a bit of learning to do when it comes to drafting, because Cordele is a pretty large track for Bandoleros to race on, but we’re proud of Landon and excited to see his first checkered flag in these cars,” said Danny Cox, Landon’s father. “Being at a new track is always a challenge, but Landon adapted quickly, and we know he’ll only continue building and learning from here.”
Landon Cox would like to thank his parents, Danny and Jessica Cox, as well as Race Face Brand Development, the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation, Ultimate QM, Baker Racing Engines, Max Papis Innovations, and Hot Rods by Buff for their support of his quarter midget racing endeavors.
Cox’s next scheduled race is Nov. 16, back in his quarter midget with the Dixie Shootout Series for the tour’s season finale at Little New Smyrna (Fla.) Speedway.
