INDIANAPOLIS – A banner Midwest Thunder Quarter Midget Series weekend for Landon Cox at Mini Indy Speedway ended with a hallmark victory in the 30th annual Robbie Stanley Memorial Race.

The nine-year-old Cox was strong over the entirety of the two-day event. He competed in four separate classes: the headlining Light 160 division, Senior Honda, Light World Formula, and Senior Animal.

Three of the four classes raced during the Saturday portion of the program, with Senior Animal following on day two of the event.

Cox’s star performance came during the Robbie Stanley Memorial for Light 160 cars. He came from fifth to win his heat race, then started on the pole and led from wire to wire in the feature to become the 24th different winner in three decades of the prestigious event.

Notable past winners of the Robbie Stanley Memorial include Turkey Night Midget Grand Prix winner Billy Wease (1998), former sprint car ace Cameron Dodson (2001), NASCAR Canada Series champion Cayden Lapcevich (2011), current NASCAR Cup Series rookie Carson Hocevar (2014), sprint car and midget young gun Emerson Axsom (2016), and four-time defending winner Lincoln Smith (2020-23).

The remainder of Cox’s Saturday included a Senior Honda heat race win, a third-to-second run in the Senior Honda main, and a seventh-to-fifth drive in Light World Formula feature action.

Sunday afternoon brought with it another trophy, as Cox raced from third in the Senior Animal B-main – after trouble in his heat – all the way to victory in the A-main.

Cox started seventh in the feature after transferring out of the consi and drove through the field.

It gave the young racer a pair of wins on the weekend at one of his “favorite” racetracks to compete at.

“There really aren’t any words,” said Cox’s father Danny. “As a parent, you always want to see your child succeed, and Landon put together one of his most impressive weekends yet in his career at Mini Indy. We traveled up because Landon loves racing there, and he drove his tail off all weekend long.

“I feel like he showed us all what we’ve known for a while he’s capable of,” Danny Cox added. “He put his mind to success and put on an amazing performance out there, having fun along the way.”

Cox would like to thank crew chief Nick Loden, parents Danny and Jessica Cox, Ultimate QM, Baker Racing Engines, Race Face Brand Development, Max Papis Innovations, and Hot Rods by Buff for their support of his racing endeavors.

Cox’s next planned race is May 2-5 with the NASCAR Youth Series (formerly the USAC.25 Series) on the grounds of Kansas Speedway, as part of AdventHealth 400 weekend.
