SPEEDWAY, Ind. – Quarter midget racer Landon Cox scored two of the more meaningful podium finishes of his young career over the weekend in the NASCAR Youth Series Battle at the Brickyard at legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Cox posted runner-up finishes in both the Senior Honda and Light 160 divisions, part of a five-class weekend for the 10-year-old native of Monroe, Ga.

The young standout made the A-Feature in four of the five divisions he competed in at IMS, placing inside the top 10 in all four races. In addition to his pair of seconds, Cox also ran fifth in Senior Animal and ninth in Modified World Formula to add to a stellar weekend.

His only blemish came in Light World Formula, where Cox got upside down in the B-Feature and couldn’t get the car fixed in time to return to the track for the balance of that event.

Still, however, it was a banner effort for Cox that was rewarded with a pair of commemorative brick trophies, similar to those in the iconic Yard of Bricks that marks the start-finish line at IMS.

“It was a huge weekend for us,” said the young Cox. “The bricks for finishing top three at Indy are something that every quarter midget racer wants to win. To be able to leave with two of them and contend at the front of the fields in several classes feels really good.”

“We’re proud of Landon for what we feel like was a positive statement for our race team,” added Danny Cox, Landon’s father. “He continues to show growth and speed with every lap he turns and such a strong performance at the Brickyard exemplifies the progress he’s continued to make all season long. The two brick trophies certainly made the long ride home a lot sweeter.”

Cox’s efforts came amid a field of 507 combined cars and 232 total drivers over the event weekend.

The final day of the Battle at the Brickyard was streamed to a worldwide audience via FloRacing.

Landon Cox would like to thank his parents, Danny and Jessica Cox, as well as Race Face Brand Development, the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation, Ultimate QM, Baker Racing Engines, Max Papis Innovations, and Hot Rods by Buff for their support of his quarter midget racing endeavors.
